Minnesota Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Such a simple Minnesota law:

carbonmonoxide

[299F.51] REQUIREMENTS FOR CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS.

Subdivision 1. Generally. Every single family dwelling and every dwelling unit in a multifamily dwelling must have an approved and operational carbon monoxide alarm installed within ten feet of each room lawfully used for sleeping purposes.[Minnesota safety council]

Carbon monoxide alarms are required in all Minnesota homes. They must be installed which can be as simple as plugging it in or using double faced tape and putting it on the wall or ceiling or using tools and screws and stuff.

When it is time to sell a home there is no requirement that the seller provide a carbon monoxide alarm but some loan programs require smoke detectors and C02 detectors be present prior to loan approval.

If you own a home or live in a home and do not have a carbon monoxide alarm get one today. I have seen them at home improvement stores for less than $20.

Carbon Monoxide is colorless and odorless and people die of carbon monoxide poisoning . . hence the law.
