Halloween Fun

I enjoy handing out the candy on Halloween and most years I go through a few bags of the stuff. This is hanging on the front porch with some of his friends.  We decorate for the kids every Halloween and most years after the decorations are taken down instead of being put away at least one will be placed somewhere in the house. I wait for it and watch for it but I always get caught off guard.   One year there was a ghost hanging from a noose in the shower and another year I made a preemptive strike and put a bat in the fridge.  The after Halloween jokes have been going on for almost 30 years.

I put together a list of Halloween activities for the weekend that the kids might enjoy, most are free or inexpensive:

The Science Museum of Minnesota – Boo-ology October 30, 2010,  1 to 4 PM

Kids in costume will receive free admission to the permanent exhibit galleries, and they'll have the chance to join in a variety of spooky hands-on science activities with a Halloween spin!

Minnesota Childrens Museum – October 30-31st – Spooky Halloween Gallery

Dig up creepy crawlers and march through a swampy bog in the Earth World Gallery. Create spooky music in the Rooftop ArtPark and enjoy caramel corn-on-the-cob and hot apple cider. Spooky Hollow walks begin every 15 minutes. 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. today, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday; Minnesota Children's Museum, 10 W. Seventh St., St. Paul; $1 (plus museum admission)

Minnesota Zoo  October 30-31st Trick-or-treat 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Minnesota History Center – October 30th Dia de Los Muertos: Day of the Dead 12:00 – 4:00

The History Center’s annual Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a fiesta of color and symbols to honor and remember friends and family who have died. $10 adults, $8 seniors and college students, $5 children ages 6-17; free for children age 5 and under and MHS members. St. Paul's Mounds Theater – October 30-31st –Real Haunted Tours

Psychics and ghost hunters recognize St. Paul's Mounds Theater as a haunted location. Experienced paranormal investigators walk visitors through the theater and tell stories of the three ghosts who still live in the walls. Saturday and Sunday; $20, Also, catch a showing of "The Blair Witch Project" at 8 and 11:30 p.m. Saturday; $5.
