The Gateway trail

Gateway Trail

I did a little biking last weekend.  Even though it was 90 degrees it isn’t bad in the woods.  I took the Bruce Vento trail through the beautiful Swede Hollow park to the Gateway trail which is actually a state trail that I never been on before.  I really enjoyed it.   The trail is built in what was once a railway bed and it is fairly flat and it is wide.

It starts near Cayuga Park just East of 35E near Mississippi blvd and goes out to Pine Point Park near Stillwater Minnesota.  The trail is 18 miles long and it wasn’t terribly crowded.

Speaking of biking this weekend is the weekend of the annual St. Paul Bike classic which is Minnesotas biggest bike tour.  The event is tomorrow and some of the roads will be closed to automobile traffic for a time so that participants can safely ride in the streets. The ride starts on the University of St. Thomas campus. Choose a route from 15 to 41 miles.  Online registration is closed but it isn’t to late to register at the event.  It costs $46 for adults and $12 for children.
