Honey I blew up the computer

It is Friday, but you knew that already.  Here on my blog I get to have fun on Fridays.  Don’t tell anyone but I have fun everyday.  I just try to do it quietly the rest of the week.

There are a few people out there that like to have fun at my expense.  Not that I can’t take it and  dish it out.    These people are friends who live deep inside my computer.  This summer I have gotten to meet some of them in person and am saving a post about the experience for a future Friday post.  Maybe I can do it in October, it would make a great Halloween post.

My blog has gotten some attention from the press and from the real estate industry too.  Most of that last sentance was an understatement but necessary, who wants a self promotional Realtor?  Worse yet a self promotional blogger.

My friends who live inside my computer congratulate me, which is wonderful, and most appreciated.  I know that with out their encouragement and support, I would not have their encouragement and support. 🙂    Their notes are always kind, and I do feel the love, but they have to stick in a dig or two because that is who they are and what they do.

This week  a couple of these dear friends sent very nice notes but then added comments like: "Imagine what you could accomplish if you knew how to write?" or "Not bad for someone who can’t write".  There isFire2 more but you get the drift.

Well I can’t write and I can’t spell either.  I have been advised not to mention it on my blog.  Too late. My computer has 2 gigabytes of RAM and a core 2 Duo processor.  Why do I need so much power?  For processing the 7 mega pixel  photos I take?  It does help with the big photos but I upgraded so that I would have enough processing power to run spell checkers and grammar checkers.  Hey I don’t make this stuff up.

Yup my spelling is  so bad that my last computer, overheated and started to melt.   I can blow up a computer or at the very least cause it to burn.   Often the spell checker can’t even figure out what word I am trying to spell.  Funny because Google seems to figure it out.  No one really understands how much processing power spell checkers need until they run some of my stuff through one.  I understand that computer manufacturers use my posts to stress test their hardware.

I thought it would be best to publish the truth myself instead of letting my friends do it first.   I am not sure they would publish it because they  know they run the risk of having lightening bolts hurled at them from the top of mount bloggious where I now live.   The world of real estate blogging may be even more brutal than the world of real estate.

Have a great holiday weekend.  Drive carefully we want the children back in one piece so they can go to school.  They have been looking forward to it all summer, not Labor Day, going back to school of course, but you knew that.

  1. I wish you would have told me you can’t write before you started teaching ME to write! :0

  2. My favorite quote from this post:

“Often the spell checker can’t even figure out what word I am trying to spell. Funny because Google seems to figure it out.”

…and that’s what matters. The others are just jealous. You go, girl!

  3. Was it really necessary in this post to tell people you can’t spell? You normally just let them see it for themselves. – Your friend in Connecticut.

  4. Linda – yes it was necessary. How do I know my readers can spell?

  5. wow! this is an honor. Long time not see. . . you do need to get out more. 🙂

  6. I wish I couldn’t write like you do! : ) – did that make any sense?
Let me try again – I wish I could write as badly as you do!……that’s better.

  7. I am sooo embarrassed!

  8. I think your writing is just fine 😉

Have a happy labor day weekend.

  9. I’ve come to rely on my computer so much daily, that my computer breaking down is one of worst fears. And even with me backing up regularly, the potential loss of data even for a week, would be a real thorn in the side.

Very funny article. Thanks for sharing. Happy labor day weekend!

  10. Ines – your writing is wonderful. Don’t sell yourself short. 🙂
Tom – thanks. My English professors would roll over in their graves. i guess it is readable though.

Malok – you have a happy Labor day weekend too. 🙂

  11. Growing up it was never fair that the spelling kids could use a calculator to help with math, but the math kids were left to use our own creativity for spelling (like I was really gonna open a dictionary!) Thank heavens for spell check.. and I didn’t even know that’s the reason I needed a better computer!

Ines said it best – I wish I couldn’t write like you!
