Water, water everywhere

Maybe it is because of the flood but I have been thinking about water.  Water in plastic bottles is so popular even in Minnesota.  It is hard to imagnine but even though we have plenty of good clean drinking water, and live in the land of 10,000 lakes water is actually shipped in from other states and it costs a small fortune.   It comes in little plastic bottles and people pay $5.00 a gallon for what they can get from a faucet in their own home for half a cent a gallon.

Our water is safe.  The bottled water comes in non-reusable plastic bottles and only about 10% of them ever get recycled.  For those who want to pay extra for water the best water on the planet  can be had at the old Schmidt Brewery on West 7th street.  It costs $.50 a gallon, bottles sold separately.  For those who do not like the taste of the tap water in the city filters are inexpensive and the filtered water tastes just like the water in the bottles, in fact some of the bottled water is filtered tap water.  Reusable plastic bottles can be purchased for a couple of bucks.
