University and Snelling

The intersection of Snelling and university is still one ot the top ten in the twin cities when it comes to air quality.  I drive through that intersection often and am never alone.  There is always a long line of cars waiting at the light.   There are a lot of buses too.  The pollution is caused by traffic which is caused by everyone, including me, driving cars.

No one wants the pollution but everyone wants to drive.  It is like that with many things.  Everyone wants power, and trains and freeways but no one wants to live by them or have them running through the back yard.

St. Paul is not on the list of the top 25 cities with the cleanest air, and we have a haze cam .  We are not the worst city for air quality either.  We could do better.

Yesterday I stopped and got out of my car because I thought it would be fun to take a picture in the reflection of the American national bank building on the corner.  It was fun,  sometimes I just have to stop and smell the carbon monoxide.  Even if the air quality is poor the camera still works.

  1. Don’t you mean bottom ten?

    Carbon monoxide is odorless.
