The FedEx Truck

Ipad_drawing It is Friday and Fridays are for fun.

Last Friday my new iPad arrived.  I guess they are all new. I don’t think you can even buy a used one yet. I used it to draw the picture in this post.

I ordered it a while back but the iPad with 3G was not released until last Friday so I had to wait.  I knew it was being delivered via FedEx and that it would arrive by 3:00 PM.  Through out the day I developed a new awareness of how much traffic there is on our tiny little three block long street that dead ends a short distance from my house.

School buses sound like FedEx trucks and there were a zillion of them out there last Friday.  UPS trucks sound just like FedEx trucks as do the trucks driven by the numerous repair and service people who visited our street last Friday.

By noon everything sounded like a FedEx truck.  The man on the mountain bike that went speeding by, the dog snoring as she slept and even the birds that were singing in the lilac bush. I became acutely aware of the sounds that I have not really heard in years.  The kind of background noise that is part of city life.

My new toy arrived as I was locking the front door and getting ready to leave for a series of appointments that would take several hours.  I got to unwrap it and touch it but didn’t get to play with it until later that evening. I would describe it as a content consumer rather than a content generator.  My blog looks mighty nice on it but so far I have not been able to use it to create a blog post but I was able to make a pretty picture, test some real estate apps and read my free copy of Winnie the pooh which was nice because it arrived on a Friday and Fridays are for fun.

Maybe the iPad can be a content generator. It gives me something to write about on Fridays:

  1. Teresa, I know the feeling: waiting anxiously for your package to arrive (and every single noise is just another needle in your balloon of anticipation and you’re ready to burst!). I ordered some wheels for my car recently which were to be delivered via UPS, after two days of long torturous waiting I received my package! Good luck with your Friday.
