National Night Out

Saint Paul Police Department

Just a reminder it is the national night out.  One of the best ways to find an event in your area is to go outside at around 6:00 PM and look around.  There are several gatherings in my neighborhood but I usually attend the event at the West 7th Community Center where I am on the board of directors.

The City of St. Paul has a list of local events.  On the first Tuesday of each August, National Night Out is celebrated nationwide. The Saint Paul Police Department encourages you and your neighbors to use this day to declare to criminals that you will not tolerate criminal activity in your neighborhood.

There are some advantages in knowing your neighbors.  You can help each other and when there is a problem you can talk about it and maybe even come up with a solution.  If you really want to get involved in the neighborhood get involved with your district council.  They are always looking for volunteers.

Last year I got to see a demonstration of a grease fire put on by the St. Paul fire department.  National night out is filled with educational and social opportunities.  Bring the kids and the dog and hang out.
