Highlights from the weekend

It was a wild and crazy weekend with record breaking crowds in downtown St. Paul.

Festivities lasted all night and into the next day.  When it was all over there was an erie quiet over downtown St. Paul and empty beer cans and plastic cups . . rolled down the street as they were pushed by the not so gentle spring breeze.  Apparently part of 7th street was shut down early Sunday morning.  I can only imagine what it was like when the bars closed and they all came staggering out at once.

There were some arrests made because of people driving while under the influence and many, many parking tickets were written in and around downtown which generates a little extra revenue for the city.   For some reason people find the words “No parking except by Permit” confusing. [see permit parking for details]  The city likes to make it even more challenging by putting a hoods on any parking meters that are inconvenient locations.

St. Patrick’s day is great for the local economy.  We should have a day like it every couple of months.
