Last years color of the year at least according to Pantone was a kind of lavender but they called it orchid. The color of the year for 2015 is more of a mauve but please don’t call it mauve because that would be kind of 1980’s and we don’t want to go back there,
The color is called Marsala. In 2014 the color of the year was green. I think these colors give interior designers and others a chance to start all over because this years Marsala is going to look terrible with last years orchid.
If you look closely at throw pillows and rugs and blankets and all sorts of accessories you may see some Marsala and less orchid. The for spring is what I call “hunter green” but I can’t call it that because that would be too 1990’s.
I’ll just say that if your home is on the market or if you plan on selling it this year keep everything neutral. The home you lived in for decades may end up being sold to people who are the same age as your children or grandchildren and their taste isn’t going to be the same as yours.
