In Minnesota, we have laws about how real estate agents can advertise their services and their listings:

82.69 ADVERTISING REQUIREMENTS.

(a) Any advertising by a licensee must clearly and conspicuously display the real estate brokerage name.

(b) If a salesperson or broker is part of a team or group within the brokerage, the licensee may include the team or group name in the advertising only under the following conditions:

(1) the inclusion of the team or group name is authorized by the primary broker of the brokerage to which the salesperson or broker is licensed; and

(2) the real estate brokerage name must be clearly and conspicuously displayed in the advertising.

Yet there are many real estate agents who have Facebook pages with their name followed by the word “Realty” or “Realestate” of “Realtor”, with no mention of which company they are with.

Sometimes they advertise houses that they have listed without even mentioning that they are a real estate licencee or the company that they are with.

They may not understand the law or maybe they just don’t care. Either way do you really want to hire them to sell your house? What if they are breaking other rules or laws intentionally or due to ignorance?

Following rules and laws is part of the job.
