It could be worse

It is Friday and Fridays are for fun. Most of us have been over winter since January. The ground has been covered with snow since December. It was kind of cute at first and then it rained for a couple of days.

Then came the brutal cold. On Christmas eve the car wouldn’t start. I really did walk uphill in the snow both ways to the grocery store to pick up a couple of things that I needed for Christmas eve dinner.

There is more snow on the way for today and tomorrow, or maybe just rain and snow, or maybe six inches of snow. We might have thunder snow which is very cool. (pardon my pun)

It might be a good idea to have snow shovels and umbrellas ready.

. . but yes it could be worse. It is still March after all and not mid-April.

I wrote this and took these pictures on April 14 and 15th, 2018:

Snow in April isn’t unusual but a snowstorm that lasts a couple of days and dumps more than a foot of snow on the Twin Cities is unusual. Most of us spent yesterday shoveling out and it snowed all day. There is more snow on the way this week too, and another few inches on Wednesday.

A total of 14.9 inches measured at the MSP airport and 18 inches of snow fell in St. Paul.

In 2019 this is what Harriet Island looked like on March 31. Apparently, we had an early spring that year and the snow all melted at once. I don’t see any snow in the picture.
