Is it the market or your agent?

If you have a home on the market and it is taking a long time to sell is it because of your agent or because of the market?

It could be the agent but it could also be the market.  There are plenty of great real estate agents out there yet home prices have gone down and some homes have been on the market for years.  In 2005 almost all agents were able to sell homes faster than they are sold today.  Homes got more attention buyer showings too and multiple offers.

Has the housing market changed or are the real estate agents just not as good as they used to be?

Your agent and the market both have an impact on the sale of your home.  Sellers can not change the market but they can change agents and they often do.  If the home sells it is always while the last agent has it on the market.

  1. The market has changed and I think that many of the lazy or ineffective agents are leaving the business. Heck it is tough for good agents sometimes in my area.

Just remember that the harder you work, the luckier you will be…..

“Just remember that the harder you work, the luckier you will be…..” very true! As for agent success personally I think it comes down to health insurance. Agents who have group health insurance through a spouse will survive.

  2. I have seen plenty of great agents who are suffering as well as mediocre agents who are doing well. There are so many factors that play into the bigger picture.
