I hate paper

It is Friday and Fridays are for fun.  I really hate paper and I always have.  I really like the way we can use electronic forms and electronic signatures and if we have to actually use a piece of paper at least we can scan it and store it digitally and then recycle the actual paper instead of having to fill file cabinets with pieces of paper that we put in bigger pieces of paper called file folders which go into even bigger pieces of paper we call hanging folders that we put in drawers and never look at again.

Paper really isn’t needed in real estate transactions except for the earnest money check which still has to be a paper check even though the rest of the world uses check cards, debit cards and paypal.

There is also this really huge company called Fannie Mae that requires three times as much paperwork from a buyer on the purchase of one of the homes they now own through foreclosure and they do not allow electronic signatures.  Why does Fannie Mae hate the forest?  Who knows but when I write an offer on one of those homes I can almost hear Bambi screaming NOOOOOOOO!

There are now agents who specialize in green housing.  I specialize in driving a fuel efficient car instead of the standard real estate SUV and walking or biking when I run errands and selling previously owned homes as a way of recycling them.

  1. I sold a Fannie Mae a couple of weeks ago. At the beginning of the transaction they wanted original sigs but by closing they had changed the policy to accept e-sigs. Hopefully that’s an across-the-board change…

Yes but then they ask for signatures before it closes.
