For the heck of it

Today is father’s day and my dad has had a rough couple of weeks but he now has a shinny new pacemaker and is recovering from a fall he took recently. What he really wants for Fathers day besides out of the transitional care unit he is in is a donut. He always was a man of simple needs and tastes. Happy father’s day dad.

Happy Mother’s day. Everyday should be mother’s day. 🙂

Happy fishing opener! In Minnesota we combine mother’s day and the fishing opener for double the fun.

I love being self employed but sometimes I miss weekends.  When I had a 9 to 5 corporate type job I had weekends off.  I try to take a weekend off each month but sometimes it just doesn’t work out.  During the winter months sometimes I get three weekends off in a month. 

There are real estate emergencies.  If an offer comes in on one of my listings I feel obliged to respond quickly.  If a buyer wants to see a house sometimes weekends are the only times they can do it.  I showed houses on my birthday but was happy to do it and the money I made came in handy over the holidays. 

It is hard to think of some days as work days and other days as days off.  Weekends have a different pace,  It is slower and there is less traffic on the roads.  I also think of having work as a privilege because I don’t always have enough work.  I listen to people who talk about work and jobs like they are entitlements. 

Working on the weekend isn’t as bad as it sounds.  I took this picture on a Thursday during the day while everyone else was at work. 🙂

This is the cycle of Christmas stuff

 

We all get an extra hour this weekend.  I have to spend my looking for health insurance as I am one of the 3 million or maybe 10 million American’s who has an insurance plan that is not compliant with the affordably health care act – sadly the plans that are compliant with the affordable Heath care laws are more expensive than my current non-compliant plan, which means I’ll have to sell at least one more house a year just to pay my health insurance and if I get sick I’ll need to sell one or two more houses a year to pay the deductible. . . . 

If you have health insurance I recommend that you use the extra hour to either let me put your house on the market or to go house hunting with me.
