Saint Peter’s church, built in 1840, located on the river bluff just across the river from St. Paul MN, built in 1840. This church is hard to photograph because it is so close to the edge of the bluff that it is hard to get far enough away from it to get the entire church in the shot.
The City of Mendota has a population of 196 and was founded in the 1830’s, at about the same time Fort Snelling was built. Saint Peter’s Catholic Church is the oldest church in Minnesota, which became a state in 1858. Mendota has several historic buildings related to the fur trade.
