Weekend fun for homeowners

Yes, it is Friday and Fridays are for fun. We will see some below-freezing temperatures in St. Paul this weekend. A few hours of 30-degree weather probably won’t cause any pipes to freeze but colder weather is on the way.

Here are some things to do this weekend:

  1. Remove the hose from the outdoor spigot.
  2. Turn off the water to the outdoor spigot.

A person could rake the yard or leave it an oasis for hibernating pollinators. I rake some of the leaves because I need them for composting.

I like to bring the flower pots inside because some of them will crack.

It is a good idea to know where the shovels are. I like to get them out and put away most of the gardening tools.

If you have a furnace make sure you have furnace filers. I like to have at least 6 on hand to get through the winter. I change it about every 4 to 6 weeks depending on how dirty it gets.
