Keep it light

I write this same article or one similar to it every year. If your home is on the market or if you are planning on putting it on the market soon make sure it is well lit.

When buyers come to see your home their eyes will be taking in a lot of information. If there is more light they will have a more favorable impression of your home and who knows they may even make an offer.

During the day if at all possible leave the blinds and curtains open. Consider removing heavy drapes and window coverings that can not be put aside to let more light in. If your home is being shown in the evening or on a dark cloudy day leave as many lights on as you can.

For ideas check out the models in this years parade of homes. You will notice that most builders will ignore some of this years hottest color trends in favor of lighter brighter colors and it is very rare to see a model with blinds or drapes covering the window.

Lighting can help sell a home.

. . speaking of light. Daylight savings time beginings tomorrow. Set your clock one hour forward before you go to bed tonight and take tomorrow off. I think it is some kind of a law that real estate and insurance agents are supposed to remind people of the barbaric and obsolete practice of manipulating time for fun and profit.

Light Rail Update #27

I am not sure if this is really update 27 but it could be and it is up to the reader to prove me wrong.   This is 4th street E. in downtown St. Paul part of the central corridor for light rail transit. This is in front of the union depot which you can not see in the photo it is to the right. The next time I photograph this maybe there will be a train in the photo.   Maybe I shouldn’t stand on the tracks?

Watching the progress of the light rail line is kind of like watching paint dry except slower.
