Stores are getting ready for the holidays

It is Friday and Fridays are for fun. Not only are there Halloween decorations in the stores there are also Christmas decorations.  It got me thinking about last

Holiday crap

Christmas. Starting in about October of 2021 there were warnings about shortages of just about everything that people “need” for the holidays. People were advised to hurry and buy stuff.

Being the non-conformist that I am I refused to play along. I made a few gifts and bought a couple of things from local businesses and bought one of those must-have items a couple of days before Christmas off the clearance shelf.

This year my strategy is to wait until January and take advantage of the after-Christmas sales. There may be an oversupply of items that there were shortages of in 2021. Maybe even a glut of chips as chip makers all over the world work hard to produce enough of them. Heck, I may even hold out for a car this holiday season.

Look for deep discounts this holiday season. Don’t hurry to buy gifts or anything else. Wait for the prices to drop a little and when they look reasonable go ahead and make that purchase.

The most important thing I have learned during the last few years is that there are opportunities for people who do not follow the herd. It is never a good time to buy what everyone else is buying. In fact, we don’t have to buy anything this holiday season and it will be alright. Yes, everything will be alright.
