The year of lilac blossoms in November

We are still experiencing drought. it isn’t as severe as it was during the summer. In St. Paul, we are “abnormally dry” to “moderate drought”.  Parts of Minnesota are experiencing “severe” and “extreme” drought conditions.

One of my lilac bushes started blooming in November. The plants went dormant in the summer because of extreme heat and drought.

You may notice new green leaves on your own lilac bushes. They may continue to bloom next spring or maybe not.

The lilac in the picture is a white french lilac. The bush with the purple lilacs did not bloom. I took the picture on November 6th. There were new blooms the week before Thanksgiving.
