There is a lot of free advice on the internet. I found this through a tweet a few weeks ago and I really liked it.

How to use twitter for marketing and PR goes to a page that simply says don't. Using social media for business can be very effective but the idea has already been corrupted to the point where twitter is becoming a spam fest. At least tweets are limited to 140 characters and we can choose who we follow and who we block.
