Start Seeing Art
Iggy the Iguana lives in front of the science museum of Minnesota. Iggy has been around a long time. The children love to look at him.  He has his picture taken several times a day, and children write to him, I like to talk to him because he listens.  Iggy is one of the many pieces of outdoor art that can be found in St. Paul, MN

A few months ago I mentioned a local blog by Kevin Hendricks called start seeing Art.  Kevin started photographing public art located all over the metro area and he started a group in Flickr called 'Artsy Twin Cities'.  Anyone can join the group, and it now has 61 members.  That is where I met Kevin, because I like to take pictures of art works too.  I can't keep up with Kevin though, he is a machine when it comes to finding the art, photographing it, identifying it and then posting it so that the rest of us can learn more.  He has helped me identify pieces a couple of times, and I forgave him for not allowing me to post pictures of neon signs in the group.  He does have a point, and for a group to be successful it has to have rules.

Kevin's latest contribution is an art map of downtown St. Paul so that the rest of us can find the art too.  He has the locations of each work of art on a map with a description and a photo, and it can be printed.

If you see a man wandering around with a camera taking pictures of art, it is probably Kevin.  Stay out of his way, the dude is on a mission.

I have a strange obsession with neon signs. Great pics, that frontal shot of Mel's Drive-In is my favorite. Are those photos taken by you in the St. Paul area? Oh, and the Iggy thing is too funny.
