It feels like 2005
The last several weeks have been very busy. I am seeing a lot more activity in the real estate market when it comes to buying houses than I did last year. It does remind me of the spring of 2005 when there was no time to eat or sleep, everyone wanted to buy a house.
It works that way, people all buy at the same time. Last spring was quiet there were plenty of people selling and buyers were looking but not buying. When it comes to people wanting to sell houses every year is pretty much the same. People like to put their homes on the market in the spring.
I won't have any good numbers for a few weeks. Maybe it is just a spring thing. Activity has not picked up in all price ranges, neighborhoods and types of housing . There are still many foreclosures on the market but they are also being sold as banks start dropping prices in an effort to get them sold.
The inventory of homes on the market remains high, but homes are selling. We are all hoping that some of that inventory gets sold off this spring. There were some homes that I wanted to show my buyers but they had offers on them before I could, just like the spring of 2005.
Speaking of spring, the snow is melted and there are buds on the trees. Amazing!

Great to hear others are seeing the buyer activity pick up too. We've had great activity and have sold six homes (helping clean up our market's inventory excess) in the past two weeks. Let's just hope we get a good little run here, and not just a glipse of "normalcy".
It feels like 2005 in Southwest Florida, too.
Jake that is good news, I know builders are having a go of it. Chris that is good news Florida has had it's challenges.
It's feeling pretty busy to me as well... many people I've talked to are saying the same thing and the MAAR stats showed a strong pickup in Pending Sales last week.
Here's to hoping it continues... even with the inclement weather the last few days!
