Beautiful Houses

Lately I have spent too much time looking at and taking pictures of some of the derilect properties in St. Paul.  I am going to make up for it today.
Brick3
Queen Anne, a subset of the Victorian style, became an architectural fashion in the 1880s and 1890s. The ornate elements of these homes were made possible by the new technologies of the industrial revolution. Builders began to use mass-produced pre-cut architectural trim in factories to create ornate homes. Examples of this type of architecture can be found in most St. Paul neighborhoods.

This particular home is located on Holly avenue in St. Paul Minnesota, and is made of brick.  In St. Paul homes of this style most often have wood siding.  These homes are easy to identify, they have steep roofs, towers, decorative shingles. bay windows, porches, and ornamental spindles and brackets.

Beautiful house! I don't see those types of homes down here in Lake County Florida.

Ann - I love them too. Think I have a few hundred pictures of Historic homes. I live in one too but it isn't much fun to just take pictures of my own.

Johnny - you can live in one. Just move on up here. It may be cold part of the year but we don't have hurricanes. :)

Thank you for posting this. Beautiful houses are, I think, the reason many agents first want to go into real estate. Homes like this are artwork, just like paintings and fine statues. It’s exciting to work in an industry that has this sort of beauty and creativity.

I grew up with one of these houses accross the street and they are beautiful inside and out. The one in our area was yellow with white gingerbread trim. I always found it intresting the glass in the round room is actually curved. It was that old wavy glas as was our house. The woodwork in the house was amazing with screen doors that were etched and recessed back into the wall. It was a home for many years then later it was a doll shop on first floor and apartment in upper floors. This one was a little different and had a wrap around porch on 3 sides. Those old homes are really beautiful!
