What Frightens You?

P1040288Fridays are for fun, at least here on my blog.  I am noticing that others are having fun on Friday too.  I like the idea of spreading it.  . .

There aren't many things that frighten me.  The sculpture in the photo freaks me out though.  It is in the new Smith Avenue Transit Station, just inside the front window.  I have to admit it sends a shiver down my spine.  It lights up at night, and the red, green orange and yellow kind of spin around.

There are a few other things that give me the creeps.  One would be plastic food storage containers , the ones that I can't see in side of.  They seem to end up in the back of the fridge. I try to remember what I put in them and how old it is.  It sometimes takes days for me to work up the courage to open them up, and then I am reminded why avoidance is not the best strategy.

HP technical support scares me. Part of it is becasue I need my computer to make a living.   I am afraid that I won't be able to get the 5 sets of 22 digit numbers that they need before they can provide support, and they will hang up on me and I'll have to go through the whole pressing or saying 2 and then 5 and then 9 and then # and then 1 all over again.

Even if I do get the numbers right they are going to ask for my mothers maiden name, how many inches tall my first born is, what make of car I have, and the last 5 numbers on the bar code on the box of cheerios I bought last week.   If I get through all of that, I may be transfered to another department, that can better serve me, and will have to go through the whole process again. What they do is try to keep me on the line asking me questions until the warranty expires and that way they don't have to help me.  Silly me I thought I could call them and ask questions.

If I get it right, and give them all the information they need,  they will ask me for three phone numbers and make me say my email address one letter at a time, it will be repeated back to me in heavily accented English, and I will never really know if they got it right.  After that I still may be transfered to another department that can better serve me and have to go through the entire process again.

I am still having nightmares about my last call to HP tech support.   I had a dream that they shrunk the serial numbers on my laptop from the current user friendly 3 point font to a 1 point font and instead of putting them upside down under the computer they put them sideways and inside the CD drive, and added 10 more digits to the 20 digit number.    The dream was so real I have had to sleep with the lights on ever since and I am not afraid of the dark, except when the sculpture at the transit station is lit.

Have a great weekend, and don't let anyone put you on hold.

What frightens you?  (besides Realtors, we know we are scary)

I guess this isn't a fear per se but it causes extreme panic when I wake in the middle of the night, remembering that I've forgotten something very important but not knowing what it is. Easily ruins an entire night and sometimes the next day.

    ah yes, anxiety dreams. :(

    T,

I'm sure HP Tech support is thrilled with your Fun on Friday. But I doubt it will induce any anxiety driven dreams for them this weekend; unless they see swirling red, green, orange and yellow lights in their sleep.

    We can always hope.

    Funny Dave. :)

Green crickets; not the shiny black ones that chirp, they are fine; haven't seen any in Ohio but in Maryland? Once there was a green cricket on the bannister going up from the basement and I stayed there (in the basement) until my husband got home :-)
