Announcing . . .

The Second Annual Virtual Pumpkin Carving Contest

P1020062

You betcha!  Fridays are for fun, but first I would like to say something about the photo, I think I should.  It was taken at Twin Cities Magic & Costume Co.  They moved to a beautiful new building, located at 250 E. 7th Street downtown St. Paul.  I would buy a costume there myself but I am frightening enough just the way I am, any more would be too much.

Last year I hosted what I believe to be the first ever and perhaps the only virtual pumpkin carving contest ever held on the Internet.  To be honest it was kind of a disaster but we did get participation and a good time was had by all.   The rules were simple but people misunderstood them anyway.  So lets try it again this yePumpkinar, maybe my writing skills have improved over the last 365 days and it will work out.

So here we go . . . all you need to do is download this pumpkin, yes I really do mean this one.  I don't want to see decorated apples, bananas, beans or anything weird like last year.  No spiders either Cragun.  Spiders are not pumpkins and they will not be displayed on my blog decorated or otherwise.   Deep breath . . . . . better now

Using nothing but your imagination and the paint program that comes with your computer, decorate the pumpkin and send it, or a link to it to:  Tboard (at) StPaulRealEstateBlog.com.

Do not use photo-shop or any of those other fancy programs this has to be done using the paint program that comes with every computer.  On the PC it can be found in "accessories"  on the MAC who knows, I don't have one of those anymore, but I am sure someone will explain it to me.  If you can't find such a program on your computer this contest isn't for you.

All entries are due by 0600 CST Monday October 29th and there will be no exceptions this year.  I listened to your lame silly excuses last year but I was nicer last year, and taller too.  You have worn me down and I am a mere shadow of the former carefree self.   Real estate blogs are not for wimps and I have the scars to prove it but you can't see them because they are all emotional scars, and besides you can't see me through the internet.  I wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat . . . . never mind.

All entry's, or maybe both of them will be posted on this blog on the 30th,  Readers will vote and the winner will be announced on the 31st at 6:00 AM CST.  There will of course be double voting and a lot of cheating but heck thats what makes it fun.  This year in the event of a tie, Erik Hare will determine who the winner is.  He doesn't know about any of this so please don't tell him.

Sellsiuspumpkin This is last years winner, done by the most excellent artists at Sellsius, go figure these are the same guys that could not put pants on one of their graphics last winter, but I won't go into that because they gave me that nice pink thingy in my side bar.

I am clueless when it comes to PAINT but my six year old daughter, Maggie, is a whiz.

I'm going to have her enter; she's captured by the "blogging" thing and will probably love this contest.

  2. Teresa Boardman

six year olds are most welcome! :)

  3. Bonnie Erickson

I've been waiting with baited breath for your announcement. If I'd know you'd use the same pumpkin, I would have started my creation on November 1, 2006!

  4. Bonnie Erickson

Hmmm, that is funny regarding that pants thing. Are you sure the gents didn't use a different program? I'm sending it to my grandson. Let's see if he enters!

  5. Teresa Boardman

Bonnie, I have no idea how they did the pumpkin. :)

  6. Joseph Ferrara.sellsius

We have been waiting for this all year. Being the pumpkin is already nekkid, we should have no problems.

  7. Larry Cragun

I have tried it. It is too hard. I am afraid the 6 year old will beat me. Lar

  8. Teresa Boardman

Joseph - good point, maybe should should put pants on it.

Larry - you don't have a prayer, have Kathleen do it.

  9. Sally

Interesting...I'll keep watch for everyones entries....

  10. Erik Harfe

I just want to let you know that I take bribes. Really big, honkin' bribes.

Oh, just buy my book, "Downriver", and you'll be like family. Ya gotta vote for family, doncha?

  11. Teresa Boardman

that's the spirit Erik. :) If there is a tie and you have to judge they will eat you alive, you might just as well get something out of it.

  12. Bob Carney

Paint and a Six year old...Brain does know she is going to be putting finger paints all over his monitor?

  13. Matt Collinge - 604homesguy

I just gave it a try. Quite challenging. I did succeed in putting that pumpkin all over my desktop (by accident) though.

Alright T, here's my submission. Hopefully this sets the bar. Don't let me pull out the Photoshop if someone tries to pull a fast one!!!

Ok Teresa, I'm going to give this a try. I saw some excellent pumpkins carved at Disneyland last week, so I'm thinking I have a leg up....ha! That's a laugh.
