"St Paul Real Estate Blog – Teresa Boardman is a Realtor in St Paul, Minnesota, whose writing has been praised on many national sites. There’s something about the way she writes – great humor mixed with soft stories mixed with hard data – that I really enjoy reading. She makes me want to become a better writer, a better realtor, and to stop and smell the roses along the way." Chris Butterworth

Interview With A Real Estate Blogging Goddess - On the Real Estate Tomato
Our regular readers and seasoned real estate blogosphere readers all know Teresa Boardman. Recently she has gained some broader exposure in national publications as an example of a locally focused real estate blogger that is firstly generating business from her efforts and secondly gaining respect from her peers nationally. Along with this success has also come some misinterpretation of who she is, why she does it and how it's done. We have enjoyed having Teresa here on the Tomato Soapbox, and felt that her articles have brought some much needed clarity to our voice, so in turn, we would like to return the favor and bring some clarity to hers.
Below is an interview we held with Teresa that focus on the reasons why she blogs, why it works for her and her outlook on the phenomenon of the real estate blog itself.
Leading our parade is the Queen of Consumer-Oriented content Teresa Boardman and her St. Paul Real Estate Blog. In Sellers, May We Talk? Boardman highlights the importance of making it as easy as possible for the potential buyers to find your house especially in winter when it gets dark earlier.

Now, here's where Teresa Boardman comes in. Teresa invited me to her blog today. It was a gracious invitation. If you come on over to my blog we could have a nice cup of tea and talk about the world of real estate she said. Since I had never been, I went. And I enjoyed.
She could just as easily have said, Hey, Jeff, come take a look at my blog. It's great. I am clearly doing something right, because I had over 1000 visitors today and we were mentioned in Realty Times. But she didn't. She didn't have to.
It wasn't until later this evening that it hit me - Teresa is actually singing. She doesn't have to tell me she can sing. She knows I can judge that for myself, and will. She has a beautiful voice. And in an audition room full of wannabees, she really stands out. Her Friday Fun posts like Potato Chips and Fruit Cake allow the reader to know her, to hear her speak in her own unique way. And posts like Protect Your Credit Rating And Your Privacy give her readers valuable knowledge, but don't feel like they were copied and pasted from some template. She auditions really well. As a result, her readers can predict, with a great deal of accuracy, that this is someone they're going to like to work with. Someone who will help them. Someone they can trust.

Do Real Estate Blogs Really Build Business?
Is a blog today's must-have in the real estate business? Some proponents say yes.
Real estate agents hang blogging signs
Though practitioners remain few, experts see industry on the cusp of a blogging revolution. We shared this honor with Chicago's top blog writers:

I wanted to officially welcome Teresa Boardman St. Paul Real Estate Blog to our blogroll.
I found out about Teresa through her posts on The Real Estate Tomtato, which is far and away the best blog about real estate technology out there (and I see recently that REBA agrees with me congratulations, Jim, well earned [and probably well publicized, too, but I won't hold that against you

This especially brilliant Theresa Boardman article recently struck me as the only post I have read recently by a real estate blogger that made any business sense, and when I visited Theresa's blog, it further struck me that she's bucking the trend in the real estate blogging community in a big way, because her blog is about (wait for it) REAL ESTATE.
It's not about the future of search or IPhones or Zunes or how much my real estate license isn't worth, by golly, it's about Real Estate in St. Paul, and there are a bunch of pictures of what we in the business call houses.
Heck, I bet if you called her she'd even help you buy one.
Professionalism. What a concept.

For example, some of her recent posts have examined Galtier Plaza, reviewed the
strength of the condo market in downtown St. Paul, and
discussed the importance of neighborhood hardware stores.
One of my favorite posts on the Teresa's site was her
"Parade of Triangle Buildings" on West 7th Street in St. Paul.
West 7th Street runs diagonally with many streets, creating
opportunities for triangle-shaped buildings, like the Flatiron Building."
