Happy July 4th

Some people call today the 4th of July and others call it July 4th. Which is correct?  This year the July 4th fire works have been moved to the state capital mall  because the parkland along the Mississippi river where the fireworks are usually launched from will be underwater.

Have a safe and fun July 4th. Try not to blow anything up. Fireworks that explode or shoot into the air are illegal in Minnesota and St. Paul is part of Minnesota. [special permits are obtained for the public fireworks displays] Even though firecrackers, cherry bombs and bottle rockets are all illegal there doesn’t seem to be any penalty for blowing tons of the things up all day and all night on and around July 4th.

The St. Paul police department will receive numerous complaints about fireworks and will respond to some. People will be hurt and property destroyed because there are a lot of people who do not take the unenforceable fireworks laws seriously so I’ll just say be careful out there and be thankful it you don’t have to go to work tomorrow because there won’t be any way to sleep tonight.
