It could have been worse

It is Friday and Fridays are for fun.  For most of the week we got to watch and listen to the news about how cold it was everywhere and most of the time it was 20 degrees cooler here.  My theory is that people think wind chills of -55 and temperatures in the -20’s are normal for Minnesota and not news worthy but when lake Michigan steams that is a big deal.
We had our own problems in the Boardman household.  Our new furnace was not working properly.  The two stage system was stuck in the first stage which apparently just blows cold air around the house.  I am not exactly sure why a furnace has such a feature but apparently ours does.
It could have been worse if not for the plastic on the windows it would have been like living in a screen house.  As it was it reminded me of camping except without the marshmallow roasting.  I am almost ashamed to admit it but I am really good at putting plastic on windows. I did not realize how important my skill is until I saw the window plastic catastrophe my friend Sara shared with me.
There are going to be a lot of tears in a few weeks when we all get our heating bills.  Window plastic or no those bills are going to hurt, and we don’t have much time to save up for them. Brace yourself.
