Not all home inspectors are equal but I won't go there. If you are buying a house that is bank owned or was a foreclosure or what some of my clients call a "flipper" and it has an in ground sprinkler system have your home inspector check it.
Not all Minnesota homes that were vacant and bank owned were properly winterized and as a result the sprinkler systems were damaged and that is something that a home buyer needs to know.
With bank owned properties the bank probably isn't going to fix it but I am finding homes that were purchased from the bank by rehabbers who did not bother to even look at the sprinkler system and some of those rehabbers will do repairs.
There are a lot of homes being fixed up and it is really great to see but if you are buying one of these homes please have a complete home inspection and hire an experienced inspector to do the job.
