Where have all the homes gone?

Happy Monday and welcome to the first full week of 2013.  I had a chance to look at the home sale numbers for St. Paul, MN for the month of December 2012.

Home prices are up significantly form December 2011 when the median home price was right around 108K.  The median for December 2012 was 128K.  The number of home sales were about the same this December and fewer homes were put on the market in 2012 than in 2011.

The toughest part of my job right now is finding homes for home buyers who are ready willing and able to buy but are not finding enough choices.

Some homes are getting offers as soon as they go on the market.  As of today there are only 622 homes for sale in St. Paul that do not have offers on them.

The numbers used to make the table came from the NorthStarMls and are deemed reliable but not guaranteed.

  2. We have seen a huge drop in inventory out west here in So California as well…..it’s gotten crazy. And those homes that are available are being taken by all cash buyers who often purchase over list price!

I miss MN, but I’m enjoying the weather out here:-) Stay warm.
