Highland Park

by Teresa Boardman, on 05 December 2009

I am not sure if the Highland Park neighborhood was named after Highland Park or if the park was named after the neighborhood. It probably doesn't matter. What is important is it is a beautiful park right in the middle of the city with an 18 golf course. It is a national golf course. I am not sure what that means but it sounds important.

The building in the pictures is on the golf course. I can't find a history on it but it looks like it was built in the 1920's,  and I hope one of our readers will correct me if I am wrong. There isn't a lot of information about our local parks or the buildings in them on the internet.  The city parks web site has limited information and most of the links are broken.  I guess they tried to fix things or something.

Why are the skies so blue in the photos?  It has to do with the angle of the sun. The late fall and winter months are the best for taking pictures of buildings.  The trees don't block the view and there are more hours in the day when the angle of the sun is conducive to photography.
