Stupid question I know. They call it airport noise which is kind of silly because the airport doesn't make any noise at all. Some people don't mind the noise and to others have a problem. I was playing around on the MACNoise web site and here are some maps of where there is airport noise over residential areas. Anyone can generate these maps, the bottom one is a view of the airport traffic, not cars but planes, taking off and landing on May 31, 2009. They have several interactive maps on the site.It is a busy airport.

Interesting site, thanks for sharing it. Sometimes I feel like the landing pattern is over my in-law’s house. I’ll have to show this to them. Haaaa.

Anyone who has traveled extensively by plane or lived near an airport may worry why airplanes make so much noise. Airplanes are so much quieter today than they were 40 years ago. we are that much closer to reducing airplane noise by altering airplane design, particularly via airflow dynamics and modifications to the body of the airplane.
