I tend to work on these blogbits on Tuesday nights somewhere between 10:30 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. I'm a night owl by nature, so the timing isn't a problem, but sometimes outside forces will push me into a recliner, cover me in a blanket, and send me on a Little Nemo adventure in Slumberland.
That happened to me last night after five straight nights of limited sleep. I was at a real estate event in Colorado Springs, Colorado for several days, and I had been hoarding the midnight hours in preparation for a session my group put together for a room full of industry types. That plus a general restlessness of spirit limited my down time.
I don't recommend this, but it is the essence of me for the last 20 years, and I've mostly enjoyed being me.
Why am I yammering about sleep, lack of sleep, the Springs, and Sax 101? Because: Why me?
This blog belongs to Teresa Boardman. She has received a great deal of notoriety in real estate circles, blog circles, and Minneapolis–St. Paul circles for creating it, which is awesome for the "lesser" twin of the Twin Cities. For a couple of years now, a neighbor writer friend started to relieve some of the burden of creating fresh daily content. That is Erik Hare, and you can read his fine words most Sundays. Late last year, I was allowed onboard because of my whip-like smarts and good looks (or something like that). Actually, I was just a first-time home buyer who wanted to work with Teresa because her blog positioned her as an expert on the city I wanted to live in.
Think about that. I was a client that liked what I saw here so much that I wanted to be a part of it. Teresa liked the ridiculous and off-track emails she received from me so much, that she allowed me to participate after we completed the deal on my first home purchase. It doesn't hurt that I also work in real estate and that I'm gaga for St. Paul.
That's some powerful stuff, isn't it? A simple blog. A deal completed for thousands of dollars on a home based on that simple blog. A friendly working relationship formed over a blog. A new combination of agent and buyer for all to see on a blog, originating from a blog.
I love my hometown, and that is my principal motivation for contribution. I love to promote St. Paul, and this is a great way to spread the gospel of old Pig's Eye to those contemplating a move or considering a visit. I can't lie. I also like the exposure that this offers to those looking for a producer of creative content—around town, in real estate, or otherwise.
So there it is. An agent and buyer each with their own motivations. Much like the original home purchase, and so much more interestingly beyond.

The use of “real” to refer to land also reflects the ancient preference for land, and the ownership thereof (and the owners thereof). This, in turn reflects the values of the medieval feudal system, which is the ultimate root of the common law.
Just saw this. Nice post. You did write the greatest emails. I would laugh every time I got one and you are such a smart ass. That is when I really began to understand that we attract what we put out there.
