Xcel Center Gets Elephanitized

Preparations for the Republican National convention are in full swing.  The parking lot across the street from the center seems to be under construction, a building is being erected and there are semi trailers everywhere. St. Paul will never be the same again.  FBI agents can be seen in local resturants and at the Holiday inn on Kellogg and West 7th.  They don’t introduce themselves but we know who they are anyway.

  1. This should be a good thing economically for St Paul. I think it will add some pressure on doing ordinary things but all-in-all it should be a big plus.

  2. Good new Xcel Center, so are you all real excited to have the Repulicans in town, or just another ok, lets get this over with event?

  3. Jim says:

This is really good for St. Paul. So excited for that.

  4. Have you noticed the security cameras that have gone up on many light posts as well? We will all be on candid camera! The preparations are amazing. I cannot fathom the time spent just on security procedures let alone on the reconstruction of the inside of the Xcel Center. Renting it for a whole month in advance to retrofit it is astounding, although I’ve missed the weekly activity for the events that normally interfere with our route past the center.
