A friend of mine keeps asking me when I am going to start posting "Saturday’s" church again. I guess today is the day and we do have a special guest, St. Clement’s Episcopal Church, and she is a beauty. Another Cass gilbert creation, built in 1893.
Made of limestone, in the Gothic Style, and modeled after and English Parish church. The church cost $25,000 to build and was a gift from Mrs. Theodore Eaton of New York.
The church is located at 901 Portland Avenue, St. Paul, MN. Kind of hidden behind William Mitchel law school.

i’ve recently taken blogging seriously and in doing my research i find you are dominating the blogasphere. congrats! am enrolled in the tomato school and looking forward to graduating
Teresa – I just want to give you a compliment. I love how you put so many photographs in blog posts. I’m a very visual person and love seeing so many photos. I’m also impressed with the quelity of the images. When I take photos for my website, I need to take several using different settings as I’m not a great photographer. I don’t know if you do the same or if you’re just good. In either case, please keet it up!
Sam – thanks. Trust me there are days when I can take 20 pictures and none turn out the way I want to. I keep at least one camera with me at all times and take pictures every day. It is like writing, it does get easier with practice. i find for some types of shots I can get it right the first time. The great thing about digital photography is that I can keep shooting and deleting until my battery dies, I would go broke if I had to use film.
I love the picture of Saint Clements Church. I too take a lot of pictures of my town so I can appriciate good work. You have great angles and clear crisp technique.
If you have any advise for a newbee Tomato classmate blogger, I would appreciate it.
Cheers
Christina – I am not a tomato blogger. I started this before the tomato started. I will be writing some posts on taking pictures for blogs in the next week. Several people have asked for them and I like to do it. Good luck with your blog!
Some good friends of mine were married in that church! It must’ve been about just shy of five years ago that they did it. They live in Frogtown now, with two kids, two cats, and a diesel-fuel Volvo powered by home-filtered french-fry grease.
And, architecturally, I’ve always regarded that little church as one of the nicest ones in St. Paul — especially when you factor in the lovely, well-kept grounds around it (which you can’t really make out in the current wintry environment).
