Golf in the Winter

by Teresa Boardman, on 07 January 2008

I have lived in Minnesota my entire life.  I really do like it here, even in the winter . . . but last week a friend of mine who lives in Tucson AZ, showed me this picture he took.

David Smith is a full time agent in Tucson and as hard as it is to imagine some folks  live in Minnesota during the warmer months and then in Arizona, or other warm places during the cold winter months.

Dave seems like a nice guy, so I don’t think he was trying to rub it in that he could play golf if he wants to and I can not.  I thought I would at least return the favor and send him a picture of one of our golf courses.  I think we both took our photos on the same day too.

Tucson Arizona has a lot to offer, and so does Dave see his blog: Tucson AZ Real Estate.  Most of my readers don’t know this but the people who have real estate blogs all know each other.  It is a good thing because we do sometimes need help from agents in other states.  As for Arizona, I think the best game plan is to live here during the spring and summer months because it is very hot there and live there in the winter and play golf.

I’m going to guess that if you play golf there in the winter you throw in a snow shovel and use the orange golf balls.

  2. Teresa,

I visited cousins (dad grew up in Blooming Prairie) in the twin cities a few years ago and they took me out for a round of golf. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the course but I do remember their green fees or should I say how they determined their green fees.
Our green fees were the same as the outside temperature at registration. It was about 50 degrees so we paid about 50 dollars. This was mid November. I thought this was one of the best pricing systems for golf I’ve ever seen. You wouldn’t happen to know which course this was?

  3. Dave – i have heard of that but I don’t remember which golf course. I’ll find out and let you know.

Dave – finding a ball in the snow would be the least of the winter golfers problems. :)
