The sculpture is called "Muscle" Located on Broadway Street down town across from the farmers market.
Was installed in 2004. It is twenty-six feet tall Muscle, by Amy Toscani, it is made of painted stainless steel. A fourteen feet high arch with gum drop-like shoes supports a bulbous clove that sports a whirly-gig that slowly and silently revolves when the wind is brisk.
I have been looking at the sculpture and other art pieces around the Twin Cities for years without really seeing them. Thanks to Kevin Hendricks, I know a lot more about the art work around town.
He started a group on Flickr, "Artsy Twin Cities", and has now started a new blog called: "Start Seeing Art". I said yes when Kevin asked if he could use some of my photos for the project.
After joining Kevin’s "Artsy Twin Cities" I see art every where. Photos need to be labeled, and put on a map before they can be submitted to the photo pool. That encourages us all to do a little research and learn more about the pieces we are taking pictures of. If you live in the area, like to take pictures and would like to learn more about art, come join us.

Thanks for the plug. It is amazing how much more art you start seeing when you look for it. This town has a ton of it.
And while it helps to label and map pics before adding them to the Artsy Twin Cities group, you don’t have to. Sometimes you don’t know what something is and just need to post it and let other people help identify it.
Teresa,
Reno is also experiencing an artsy revival.. really awesome for our city.
It’s funny how directly proportional accumulating age and appreciating history, cultures and the arts.
