Writers Block

by Teresa Boardman, on 29 November 2007

I figured after a couple of years and more than a thousand posts the day would come when I would not have a post.  I always have something to write about, and I can’t imagine running out of topics or ideas.   Tonight I find myself unable to take any of those ideas and turn them into anything coherent.  I know that lack of coherency has never stopped me before or even slowed me down but tonight I am hung up on the idea.

A photo post would work with the pictures I took today.    I stopped by the grocery store  . . for,  you are not going to beleive this, food, and took pictures of the flowers.   They seem to sell everything at the grocery store these days so I really had to search to find food.  Some of the big box stores like Target and Walmart sell food too.  It is all so confusing.

Remember when there were stores that just sold one type of food?   Bread was purchased from the bakery, meat from the butcher shop, eggs, milk and cheese from the dairy and there was a store that sold nothing but fruit and vegetables.  For flowers we went to the florist.  These days I can go to one store and buy shoes, a toaster, a toner cartridge and a pizza, take pictures of flowers and have the photos printed at the kiosk on my way out the door.

I could write an entire post about how much trouble I get into with my camera.  I usually ask permission before I take pictures in any retail store.  Sometimes they say no, and sometimes they make me talk to the manager.   This time no one was  looking so I figured it was OK.

I was on Twitter a short time ago and an agent from West Virgina said that she could not figure out what to write for her blog.  My advice to her was to write a post about not being able to write a post.  I hope she does and I can’t wait to read it.

:o ) I haven’t been to Twitter yet, but now at least I know there’s some conversation going in there.

I’m stuck because I’m supposed to write something specific for someone else’s blog and my brain is off on a walkabout. … And now I have an assignment to write about not being able to write. I can do that. :o )

  2. I’m a fan of flowers at the grocery store. When I grow tired of the weeds and branches I snag from the back yard I hit the Fresh Market an pick up some for my ikebana.

  3. Sarah – I never tried writing about not being able to write and it is kind of fun. I may do it again sometime. Now pay attention to those twitters. :)

Chris – I love flowers. I grow so many in my yard. Sometimes in the winter I go to the a huge garden center near my home just so I can look at the flowers and see something that isn’t frozen. :)

  4. OH MY GOSH – I have been fighting the posting blahs for a month now – it’s so nice to know you’re human!!!!! AND I learned something else about you – you don’t get up and post at 4am or 5am – I’m always amazed when I check in with my favorite blogs at 7am or so and you already have your daily post up – you’ve been found out now, girl! ;) Carry on – I know you have some good stuff in there somewhere

  5. why would I post in the middle of the night? I can write a post at anytime, and have it post when ever I want it to. I mostly write in the morning and have them post the next morning. . . yes I am very human, but I am generally up by 5:30 AM and often writing, or reading at that time.

  6. I’m always envious of those that need less sleep – 5:30 IS the middle of the night to me! :) kiddos get me up by 7-7:30 but I’d prefer to rise around 8. I would never make it on a farm!

I am confused… I came from Twitter, the IReference site is using RSS to display this entry? but you have a very different photo showing there… how did you do that?

Or is it not this post?

  8. Maureen – easy to do but next time I send out a ping it may get updated. It is all just a matter of changing the file name of the picture and uploading an old picture with the file name of the stolen picture.
