Your night/dusk photos are always top notch. Do you use the bulb setting or bracket your exposures? Is there a certain f-stop you prefer or do you let the camera work its own magic? What is your secret?
That is one gorgeous shot my friend. I love the amber glow on the river, makes me want to visit (but not now … I’ve been in Fond Du Lac, Wisc. in November and will wait until next March) :p

Thank you both. If you had been there last night with me you would know my picture doesn’t do it justice, so I’ll try again. Toby – have been to that part of Wisconsin, not much going on in the early spring. Bring warm clothes.
Kevin – I use a tripod and a timer, and yes a slow shutter speed. It takes about 10 pictures before I get anything I would put on my blog. As for which settings, it really depends on what I am shooting. There was a lot of light when I took this photo so I used the auto settings for night scenery.
