Saint Adalberts Catholic Church 265 Charles Ave St Paul, MN 55103 . This simple brick church was built by catholic Polish immigrants in 1879. The steeples can be seen from some distance. My parents were married in this church, shortly after it was built, or maybe about 50 years ago, I forget which. Yes there is a man working on the church, he is up by the steeple toward the back on the right. His name is Henry, the church roofer. I don’t know the names of the three pigeons near the east steeple.

It’s really amazing that what must have been the old St. Adelbert’s Catholic Church School has been renovated into what is now New Spirit Public Charter School which is part of the St. Paul School District! It is a really neat experience subbing in the old St. Adelbert’s Catholic School now New Spirit Public Charter School which is located right next to the church. The ceilings are high with old painted walls and finished baseboards. We can only imagine how teachers or nuns must have felt when they worked and taught at St. Adelbert’s School many years ago! St. Adelbert’s seems to be a school with students who seem to be mostly of Hmong or of Asian descent. What an awesome way to recycle old buildings and make them new again!
The New Spirit School, has nothing to do with the parish of St Adalbert. The school building was sold to them several years ago. They (New Spirit) also own the old school building over at St Vincent’s on Lafond a couple of blocks from St Adalaberts.
My question is does anyone know where one could find out what saints etc are pictured in the stain glass windows of the church? For some reason quite a few people have suddenly taken a interest in finding out this information and I was sort of nominated to track it down. So far I have found nothing.

P.S. what was the name of the “parents” married at the church 50 or so years ago? It would be interesting to know. Do they still belong there? I have been a member there for 64 years!
