They turned the lights out at the Minnesota State Capitol building for a time as a cost saving measure. It costs about $78,000 a year to burn all of those lights. They are back on again after our governor, Tim Pawlenty, decided that the big black gaping hole at night where the capitol should be was unacceptable.
I figured I had better go and take a couple of shots before they change their mind again. The lights seem to come on around sunset and they stay on until 11:00 PM, which is about two hours after we roll up the sidewalks in these parts. (just kidding, I think)

I find nighttime pictures of some buildings, like your capitol building here, to be really beautiful, and it certainly gives a whole different feeling seeing them lit up at night. Many of them are prettier at night than during the day.
