Andrea Burnstein, owner of A Touch of Andrea, has owned her own hair care business for the past 10 years. She moved to a new location earlier this month.
When I stopped by her shop she was pretty excited about the move and I can see why. The entrance to her shop is across the street from Cherokee Bank, and around the corner from a subway sandwich shop, in the historic Macovich building on West 7th and Osceola Streets. “There is just a lot more going on here”, she said when comparing it to her old location, on Randolph Ave. Near Victoria.
The shop is bigger and brighter than before, with a cheerful, décor. When I asked Andrea what she like the most about her job, her response was “the people”. She is referring to her customers, many like me, have been visiting A Touch of Andrea since she opened her doors 10 years ago. She also said that she likes to be creative.
Many of Andrea’s competitors these days are chain stores located in strip malls that provide quick cheap service.
Andrea’s shop is more like a modern neighborhood beauty parlor where a customer might actually see someone they know, and will have their hair cut by the same person each time they go. Instead of gossip, the discussion is about business, current events, taxes or maybe some neighborhood news.
A Touch of Andrea is not just a business located in the neighborhood but truly a neighborhood business run by a good neighbor. She doesn’t talk much about it but I know she makes house calls and has done other things to help people that are in need of her services.
Andrea, has lived lived near Palace playground, for the past 13 years, her son Bradley Hisle attends high school at Nacel International School. We wish her many years of success in
her new location at 468 Osceola Street, St. Paul, MN appointment call: 651-665-0716.
